The market research industry is evolving. Businesses and companies are expecting from market researchers to provide high added value analysis and new ways of interpreting consumer behavior. Market researchers are required to provide a holistic and integrated business approach, with a strong analytical component, in order to provide relevant business answers.

In this context, the traditional role or market researcher changes: it becomes a consultant, because the focus shifts from just an understanding of consumer behavior to a comprehensive analysis of business issues and solutions.

I define myself as a market research consultant. My aim is to deliver a comprehensive analysis of business problems through market research and consultancy tools.

Why using a market research consultant?

Consultants are by definition more flexible than traditional market research agencies, which are often highly bureaucratized and influenced a by a wider agenda. Consultants can be used only when required.

Consultants, tend to manage just few projects per year, increasing the focus on specific clients and tasks, and paying more attention to client´s requirements.

In addition, consultants have less fixed costs than traditional market research agencies. Consequently, a consultant is a great value-for-money alternative to traditional market research institutes.

To sum up, consultants are generally more flexible, have a quicker turnaround and higher focus on the business. The cost equation is also better than using traditional market research agencies.
